We have the rink!
Friday 1st September at 1.30pm we were handed the keys for Grimsby Ice Rink.
It was such a strange and surreal feeling for our directors, that the last 9 months of hard work finally came to a positive conclusion, license was signed and keys passed over.
Now the hard work really begins, not just for the directors, but for the whole of the Grimsby community. Without the support of the clubs, coaches and general public we would have got it this far, but we have proved ourselves as capable to run the rink and we want to make it a success.
We ned the whole of Grimsby and the surrounding area to back us! without the footfall to the facility was can’t make it work, but we want to make it better than ever, and a enjoyable place to visit.

Grimsby Ice Rink Saved From Closure!!
Grimsby Ice Rink has been saved from closure, but now the really hard work begins!
In September when we get the keys, there is work we need to do to separate it from the rest of the building, and improve the facility.
We are calling on the good people of Great Grimsby (and further afield) for help.
We don’t have much money, but there is some crucial work to be done. Let’s put some pride back in our town, and rally together to make the Ice Rink a success for the whole of the community.
If you can help us open the doors, for a small fee, or free that would really help us.
Work we need to do:
- Conversion of a fire door to an entrance
- Fitting meters to the current water pipes (both hot and cold) running into the rink
- Asbestos surveys
- CCTV and burglar alarm system
- Emergency signage and lighting alteration
- Signage
This is phase one of our works. We have further works planned once we open, but please get in touch if you can offer any help with any of this. We are in desperate need of plumbers if anyone can help?
Can You Help?
Important Update!!!
The Portfolio holder and Director of Finance at North East Lincolnshire Council, have agreed in principle with our business proposal.
What this means is we are a step closer to securing the continued use of the ice rink, to be run by the community.
The final decision will be made at Cabinet at the beginning of August!
We really do need your help now for any donations of materials, labour or cash to help us do the work (and improvements) to Grimsby Ice Rink.
If you can help at all please get in contact with the community group grimsbyicerinkcommunity@hotmail.com
Business Plan
Grimsby ice rink community group outline their plans to secure future of facility!
CAMPAIGNERS who fought to save Grimsby’s ice rink have outlined their ambitions for the facility as they face the mammoth fundraising task ahead of them.
Members of the Grimsby Ice Rink Community (GIRC) will take over the reins at the Cromwell Road site in August – but before that date they’re hoping to raise about £50,000 to carry out essential repairs and renovations.
